For Macaroni:
Macaroni | 250 GMS |
Water | 600 ML |
Salt | 3 TSP |
Olive Oil | 2 TSP |
For the White Sauce you'll need;
Olive Oil | 2 TBSP |
Butter | 2 TBSP |
Refined Flour/Maida | 2 and 1/2 TBSP |
Milk | 300 ML |
Garlic | 1 TBSP- Chopped |
Red Chilli Flakes | 1 TBSP |
Dried Oregano | 1/2 TSP |
Paprika | 1/2 TSP |
Black Pepper Powder | 1 TSP |
Salt | 1/2 TSP |
Cheddar Cheese | 50 GMS- Grated |
Mozzarella Cheese | 50 GMS- Grated |
Parmesan Cheese | 50 GMS- Grated |
If you do not have all the above cheeses you can use any cheese you have at home. But Cheddar and Mozzarella are a must have for this recipe.
For the Crust you'll need;
Breadcrumbs | 100 GMS |
Red Chilli Flakes | 1/2 TSP |
Dried Oregano | 1/2 TSP |
Paprika | 1/2 TSP |
Pepper | 1/2 TSP |
Mac n Cheese! It’s one of our favourite comfort foods. I mean who doesn’t like a Mac n Cheese after a tiring day, feeling all lazy and famished? For me, it’s something that I would make real quick and chomp away mouthfuls sitting on the couch watching some TV.
Preparation:
STEP 1- In a saucepan, pour 600 ml of water and add 3 TSP of salt in it. Once the water comes to a boil, throw in the macaroni. Cook the macaroni for 3 mins on medium high flame (don’t overcook it. It should be al dente). Drain the water and coat the macaroni with 2 TSP of olive oil, so that it does not stick to each other.
STEP 2- On a plate, take 100 gms of breadcrumbs, ½ TSP of pepper, ½ TSP of paprika, and 1 TSP of chilli flakes and ½ tsp of oregano. Your seasoned breadcrumb is ready. Keep it aside.
Optional- You may choose to add grated parmesan and mozzarella cheese on this mixture.
STEP 3- In a saucepan, pour 2 TBSP of olive oil and 2 TBSP of butter. Once the butter starts to melt add 2 and ½ TBSP of refined flour. Mix it well.
STEP 4- Once the color of the flour changes a little bit, add 300 ml of milk. Keep the flame on medium high.
STEP 5- Once the milk comes to a boil, lower the flame and add 1 TBSP of chopped garlic, 1 TBSP of chilli flakes, 1 TSP of pepper, ½ TSP of salt, 1 TSP of paprika, 1/2 TSP of dried oregano and three kinds of cheeses. Cook the white sauce for another 20 secs.
STEP 6- Add the par boiled macaroni. Mix it well. Let cook for 40-50 secs on low flame before turning off the flame.
STEP 7- In an oven proof bowl, pour the cheesy macaroni and top it up with the seasoned breadcrumb.
STEP 8- Preheat your microwave in the micro grill combination at 180 degree Celsius for 3 mins. After 3 mins put the oven proof bowl (uncovered) inside the microwave or OTG and bake the macaroni for 10-13 mins or until the crust turns light golden.
STEP 9- Your Mac n Cheese is ready to be served.
