Narkel Postor Bora OR Coconut and poppyseeds Fritters! Ask any Bengali and you shall be affirmed that posto/opium poppy seeds are one of the most loved Bengali delicacies. You can use this as a hero ingredient in several vegetable dishes. I also make a few proteins with this (poppyseeds) and the results are delicious. But you definitely need to develop a taste for it. That’s for another day though. This dish is a great accompaniment to dahl and rice.
Preparation:
Step 1: Make a paste of all the ingredients in a mixer grinder. Add the water gradually. The paste shouldn’t be runny. It should be semi solid.
Step 2: Once the paste is ready it’s time to fry them. In a pan heat 2 TBSP of refined oil or any oil that you prefer. Please note that poppy seed has it’s own distinct flavour, therefore it is advisable to use an oil which is not overpowering.
Step 3: Make flat round balls of the paste as shown in the video and fry them on one side for about a minute till it turns crisp golden brown in colour. Flip them and fry the other side as well.
Step 4: Your Narkel Postor Bora/Coconut and Poppyseed fritters are ready to be served. Serve it with steamed rice and dal.
